Abigail James, Part One

I ducked breathlessly around the corner into the alleyway.  Had they seen me?  Surely not.  I hadn’t seen anyone behind me for the last block, but still I couldn’t be sure.  They had people everywhere.  People who were far better at this cloak and dagger stuff than I was.  I waited anxiously for five minutes.  When no one appeared in the alleyway entrance, I decided to risk leaving.  It was getting late and I was sure my roommate was starting to wonder where I was.   I had only taken a few steps out of the safety of the shadows when a hand grasped my shoulder.  I felt a chill run down my spine.

“Ms James?  I believe you have something that belongs to us.” (to be continued)
